​Shaanxi safeguards the 'last kilometer' of electricity supply for people

"It was so hot that I was extremely anxious when my cold storage suddenly broke down. Unexpectedly, the problem had nothing to do with the power supply lines, yet the staff from the power supply station went out of their way to contact the manufacturer for me, solving my big problem," said Tian Zhimin, expressing his gratitude repeatedly.

In Baijiazui village, Luochuan county, Yan'an, Shaanxi Province, villager Tian Zhimin encountered a power anomaly with his self-built cold storage, putting 200 boxes of apples intended for online sales at risk of spoilage. The on-duty personnel of the Huaibai Power Supply Station arrived quickly, confirmed that the power supply line was functioning normally, and then extended their service by contacting the equipment manufacturer for remote technical support to fix the control cabinet fault, and finally the cold storage resumed normal operation.

Since the beginning of this summer, many areas in Shaanxi have been hit by prolonged high temperatures, causing continuous increases in grid load. In some rural areas, people are deeply concerned about key livelihood issues, particularly power needs of equipment and electricity for water supply. State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power has been making every effort to ensure power supply during the summer peak, carefully safeguarding the "last kilometer" of electricity for the people.

In Wujiao village, Luochuan county of Yan'an, over 320 households and more than 1,300 residents had long suffered from unstable water pressure and frequent outages due to the village's high terrain. To address the water access challenges caused by the village's location and the long distance between the well and the power source, State Grid Luochuan Power Supply Company opened a green channel. Eleven construction workers braved the scorching heat and completed within three days the erection of a 600-meter-long 10-kV power line and eight utility poles, along with the installation of a new 200 kVA distribution transformer. At the moment the switch was closed and power connected, the well pump started running steadily, and clear water gushed forth.

During the summer peak period, State Grid Yan'an Power Supply Company has organized special patrol teams for power guarantee, building a solid "cooling defense line" across the vast northern Shaanxi region. In view of Yan'an's location in the hilly and gully Loess Plateau area, where power lines cross gullies and ridges, making operation and maintenance extremely difficult, the company has comprehensively upgraded its control strategies for equipment operation and maintenance. To address equipment overheating under high-temperature and heavy-load conditions, auxiliary cooling measures are widely adopted, and physical cooling and dynamic monitoring are strengthened for critical components such as heavily loaded transformers and switch joints. Night patrols and special inspections are conducted for old residential quarters, key customers, and flood control command centers, comprehensively safeguarding the bottom line of electricity supply for people's livelihood.

Faced with complex transmission corridors, the company has launched a coordinated "human + drone" inspection model. Drones can precisely detect subtle equipment anomalies, significantly improving the quality and efficiency of inspection. Operation and maintenance personnel are on duty around the clock, fully equipped with emergency power generators, portable generators, and various repair materials, while multiple emergency rescue teams stand ready at all times.

State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power always prioritizes the electricity supply for people's livelihood, fully implementing the principles of "connecting first and renovating later; restoring power first and repairing later; transferring load first and carrying out maintenance later" to firmly safeguard the bottom line of electricity supply. It coordinates service channels like the 95598 hotline and Online State Grid to respond quickly and accurately to customer requests. By optimizing the layout of emergency repair sites and the allocation of resources, revising and improving plans for connecting generator vehicles to residential quarters, and implementing the "Five-Five-Three" residential power guarantee initiative, the company safeguards the electricity supply for every household in an all-round way.
