Striker Jose Manuel Lopez has extended his contract with Palmeiras, ending speculation of an imminent exit from the Brazilian club.

The 25-year-old Argentine, whose previous deal had been due to expire in 2029, signed a new contract running until December 2030.

"I am always grateful and consider myself fortunate for everything I've experienced here so far," Lopez said in a club statement. "Now, I'm going to be here for a little longer and hopefully many more good things will happen."

Lopez has made 224 appearances for Palmeiras and scored 78 goals following his 2022 move from Lanus.

The center-forward has been capped seven times for Argentina and was part of the Albiceleste squad at this year's FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

In recent weeks, Lopez had been linked with Spartak Moscow, Fiorentina and Villarreal.
