Angel Di Maria converted a second-half penalty as 10-man Rosario Central secured a 1-0 win at Tigre in Argentina's Clausura tournament on Sunday.

The Argentina World Cup winner broke the deadlock on the hour after Colombian midfielder Jaminton Campaz was brought down by Valentin Moreno.

The visitors were forced to endure a tense final 20 minutes after Emanuel Coronel's ugly challenge on Nahuel Banegas earned him a second yellow card.

Rosario Central is fourth in the 15-team Zone B standings with 15 points from nine outings, three points ahead of 10th-placed Tigre.

"We are struggling to take our chances in front of goal and that can prove costly," Di Maria said after the match. "But today we did what we had to do. The important thing now is to keep winning so that we can finish as high as possible and hopefully make our fans happy."

In other Argentine top flight fixtures on Sunday, Belgrano drew 1-1 at Sarmiento, Argentinos Juniors was held to a 1-1 home draw by Gimnasia La Plata, San Lorenzo drew 1-1 at Independiente and Huracan prevailed 2-1 at home to Racing Club.
