Chongqing rolls out autumn tourism routes, new attractions

As autumn deepens, southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, in collaboration with neighboring Sichuan province, has launched more than 100 tourism experiences across its major A-rated scenic areas and cultural districts.

The campaign features themed routes covering natural scenery, wellness, rural experiences and seasonal flower viewing.

The autumn foliage tour includes Wuxia Gorge and Shanwangping in Nanchuan. The forest wellness tour takes visitors to the Wuling Mountain Great Rift Valley in Fuling, the Simian Mountain Scenic Area in Jiangjin and the Fairy Mountain National Tourist Resort in Wulong.

The lakeside sightseeing tour features the Zhuoshui scenic spot in Qianjiang, the Ayi River in Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, and Hanfeng Lake in Kaizhou. The hot spring tour includes Ronghui Hot Spring Town in Shapingba, as well as hot spring scenic spots in Beibei and Banan.

Visitors can also experience the harvest season on the autumn harvest tour, which features longans in Shima town, Jiangjin; pomelos in Linfeng town, Changshou; and navel oranges in Caotang town, Fengjie. The autumn flower tour highlights the Nanshan Botanical Garden and the Osmanthus Expo Garden in Tongliang.

Four themed routes have also been launched, showcasing the natural landscapes and cultural heritage of Chongqing and Sichuan.

The urban tour features the Jiefangbei commercial block, Ciqikou ancient town, the Dazu Rock Carvings and Danzishi old street. The revolutionary cultural heritage tour links the Chongqing Hongyan Revolutionary History Museum with the Gele Mountain Martyrs' Cemetery.

The Yangtze River poetic tour connects Wuxia Gorge and the Baidi City-Qutang Gorge Scenic Area in Fengjie. The intangible cultural heritage tour links Rongchang pottery with the Zigong Dinosaur Museum in Sichuan.

Chongqing has also introduced 20 new "small and beautiful" tourism offerings and experiences. Newly opened destinations, including Sandaoguai old street in Changshou, are giving holiday visitors more places to explore.
