The number of direct flights between Ordos in Inner Mongolia and Ulaanbaatar, capital of Mongolia, has been increased to five per week.

The additional flights are operated by China United Airlines under flight number KN807. On July 18, one of the newly added flights departed from Ordos Ejin Horo International Airport. The airline now operates three flights weekly—on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays—between Ordos and Ulaanbaatar, with a one-way journey time of approximately two hours and five minutes.

The service features China United Airlines' newly unveiled themed aircraft, "Northern Route," a Boeing 737-800. The livery draws inspiration from the famed Northern Song Dynasty painting "A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains." It blends iconic elements such as Ordos' golden desert dunes, the white domes of traditional Mongolian yurts, the curved eaves of the Wushenzhao Monastery, and distinctive temple towers. Together, these motifs evoke the vast and poetic landscapes of China's northern frontier, embodying a fusion of natural grandeur and cultural heritage.

The aircraft also features a calligraphic rendering of poet Wang Wei's famous verse: "The desert's solitary smoke straight up, the long river setting sun round," adding a lyrical rhythm to its steel wings. As a tribute to the spirit of the Belt and Road Initiative, the plane serves as a flying gallery of traditional Chinese culture and a modern symbol of the steppe Silk Road—transforming every flight into a journey across both geography and history.

The expanded air route is expected to further boost exchanges in tourism, trade, and culture between the two regions and promote greater regional connectivity.
