During the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, Ordos in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region recorded a strong start to the year in its cultural and tourism market, welcoming 3.58 million domestic visitors and generating 2.5 billion yuan (about $349 million) in tourism revenue.

A wide range of festive activities was rolled out across the city, featuring local folk customs, ice-and-snow experiences, intangible cultural heritage performances, and immersive interactive programs, offering residents and tourists a rich and diverse New Year cultural experience.

The Ordos Wildlife Park attracted large numbers of families, with themed interactions, animal behavior shows, and equestrian riding activities. Meanwhile, the Ordos Cultural Industry Park hosted immersive festive events, including grand parades, aerial concerts, and interactive museum tours, blending traditional culture with modern creativity.

Folk traditions also took center stage. Key scenic areas and resorts, such as Kangzhen and the Jiuchenggong Grassland Manhan Cultural Tourism Zone, staged traditional opera performances, New Year markets, and ice lantern art exhibitions. Festive parades and intangible heritage showcases further enhanced the joyful holiday atmosphere.

Technology-driven cultural innovation added new highlights. In Ejin Horo Banner, a large-scale lantern festival featured more than 1,000 colorful lantern installations arranged into 32 mega displays, integrating traditional craftsmanship with local cultural elements. Interactive NPC performances, themed floats, heritage lantern dances, and robotic shows created an immersive experience that combined tradition and modern technology.

Throughout the holiday, Ordos maintained smooth market operations, diverse product offerings, and improved service quality, fully showcasing its cultural appeal and achieving both economic and social benefits.
