An integrated solar-storage-charging-battery swapping demonstration project for electric heavy trucks in Ordos entered trial operation on May 12.

The project, the first of its kind by Inner Mongolia Power Group, is located in Jungar Banner and is designed to support the low-carbon transition of regional transport.
Preparatory work began in October 2025, and construction officially started on March 3, 2026. The project reached trial operation after 70 days of construction.
The first phase includes 24 high-power DC charging piles with a total capacity of 11,520 kilowatts, which can meet the daily charging needs of 300 electric heavy trucks.

The project plans to build 96 supercharging parking spaces for heavy trucks and two battery swapping stations. It is designed to support mainstream electric heavy truck models and allow multiple vehicles to recharge efficiently at the same time.
In addition to charging and battery swapping services, the station will also provide parking, maintenance, catering and accommodation services for truck drivers.
The project is expected to begin official operations by the end of May. Its second phase will further improve regional new energy infrastructure and help promote greener transport and low-carbon energy development.
