Ordos farmlands burst into harvest season

Basking in warm August sunshine, the vast farmlands in Ordos are alive with vibrant growth.

In Dalad Banner, a picturesque rural scene unfolds. Neatly laid out rice paddies stretch toward the horizon. A gentle breeze sweeps across the fields, sending layers of green ripples across the landscape. The rice ears are slowly filling out, awaiting the autumn harvest. This year, Dalad Banner plans to sow 30,000 mu (about 2,000 hectares) of rice. Shagedu Village, with nearly three decades of rice cultivation history, has planted 13,000 mu this year. Through saline-alkali land improvement, the village has expanded its rice-growing area from a few hundred mu to over 20,000 mu.

Sunflowers stretch across vast fields, their golden heads turned toward the sun. Against a backdrop of blue sky and white clouds, the heavy flower disks create a striking scene. As evening breezes sweep over the fields, waves of gold ripple across the land.

Potatoes are now in their prime harvest season. Vines cover the ridges while the tubers lie buried in the soft sandy soil. Farm machinery moves across the fields as farmers gather the harvest. Plump potatoes are lifted from the earth.

Bell peppers are also at their peak. Bright green fruits hang heavy on the branches. Farmers walk between the rows, picking quickly to keep up with the season. The fields are alive with the colors and bustle of a busy harvest.

Across this fertile land, the people of Ordos are working hard to bring in a rich harvest, writing a new chapter of rural revitalization.
