Seven Chinese Military Officers Promoted to General

China's Central Military Commission(CMC) Sunday conferred the rank of general on seven senior military officers in Zhongnanhai, the headquarters of the central government in Beijing.

President Jiang Zemin, who is also chairman of the commission, awarded the officers certificates of command at the ceremony.

An order for the promotion was announced by Vice-President Hu Jintao, who is also vice-chairman of the CMC.

The senior officers are Qiao Qingchen, Wen Zongren, Qian Guoliang, Jiang Futang, Chen Bingde, Liang Guanglie, and Liu Shutian, who come from the Air Force of Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), the PLA Academy of Military Sciences, Military Area Commands in Shenyang, Jinan, Nanjing and Guangzhou, respectively.
