The six-day 12th session of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, opened in Beijing Friday, during which drafts of the law on real right (relating to property rights), bankruptcy and offenses against public order will be deliberated.

The lawmakers will also review the draft amendment to Electoral Law for the NPC and Local People's Congresses and Organic Law, stipulating how Local People's Congresses and their constituent bodies are structured and run.

Meanwhile, the draft amendment to the solid waste pollution prevention law will be submitted to the legislature for the first time.

Top legislators will deliberate on the report made by the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate on improving grass roots organization and on reports on the implementation of Law on Compulsory Education and Trade Union Law.

The State Council, the Chinese cabinet, will also submit a report on paying interest on a special treasury bond issued in 1998.
