Adjust font size:

China and Turkey have agreed to enhance bilateral economic and trade cooperation during the talks in Ankara Friday evening between Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju and Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul.

Sources with the Chinese Foreign Ministry disclosed that both sides expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation in railways, telecommunications, infrastructure project engineering, two-way investment and tourism.

The two countries will also strengthen consultation, coordination and cooperation on such issues as Iraq, Mideast and anti-terrorism.

Both sides hold that bilateral high-level contacts are of significance to the consolidation of the political basis of bilateral relations and the promotion of cooperation in various fields.

Gul reiterated the Turkish government's one-China policy, hoping that China can realize its reunification at an early date.

Huang, who is here on an official visit as Gul's guest, expressed his pleasure with the progress Turkey made in joining the European Union, and hoped Turkey will play a more important role in international and regional affairs.

Huang also held separate talks with Turkish President Ahmed Necdet Sezer Friday and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan Thursday. The Chinese side welcomes President Sezer to visit China next year.

Turkey is the third leg of Huang's four-nation tour. He visited Luxembourg and Ireland before arriving here Thursday and he is also scheduled to visit Egypt.
