Top Legislature Releases 2005 Legislation Plan

China's top legislature, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), released on Monday its annual legislation plan.

Items up for consideration in its 2005 sessions include 20 new laws and revisions to 11 existing laws. Areas to be addressed include states of emergency, antitrust, civil service, corporate bankruptcy and maintenance of public order.

Draft revisions cover such areas as securities, individual income tax, compulsory education and women's rights.
