A conference aimed at promoting mutual understanding and cooperation between China and the US will be held from November 14 to 17 in Beijing.

 

The four-day conference, titled "China-US Relations: Trade, Diplomacy and Research," will be co-hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the Texas A & M University, George Bush School of Government and Public Service, and the George Bush Presidential Library Fund.

 

Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Xu Kuangdi, former Vice Premier Qian Qichen and former US President George Bush will attend the conference.

 

"China-US friendship is not only in the interest of the two peoples, but also relevant to the peace and stability of the Asia-Pacific region and the world as a whole," CPAFFC Vice President Li Xiaolin said in Beijing Monday.

 

Main topics to be addressed at the conference include China-US economic and trade relations, energy and sustainable development, scientific and technological cooperation, culture, education and people-to-people diplomacy, and shared strategies on prevention and combating infectious diseases.

 

"The conference will provide a platform for exchange and cooperation between the two sides to achieve a win-win situation," Li noted.

 

This is the second bilateral conference on China-US relations. The first was held in 2003 in the US. The venue for the biennial conference alternates between China and the US.
