Wang Wins Silver in Women's 500m Speed Skating

Wang Manli, world champion in 2004 and 2005, finished second after race one in the women's 500m speed skating at the Turin Winter Olympics on Tuesday.

 

Wang, who won the 500m at the 2004 and 2005 World Championships, finished in 38.31 seconds after race one, second to Svetlana Zhurova of Russia, world champion in the same event in 1996. Zhurova won the race in 38.23 seconds.

 

Wang Beixing, another Chinese medal hopeful, ranked eighth in 38.71 seconds. She had finished second to Wang Manli at the 2005 Worlds in Inzell, Germany.
