Adjust font size:

China's women's soccer team stunned their Malaysian opponents 22-0 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Thursday to make the semi-finals of the AFC U19 Women's Championship.

The Chinese performed well throughout the match and dominated play at the Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) Stadium in Cheras.

They played well despite initial difficulties adjusting to the local climate, according to head coach of China's National U19 Women's Team, Shang Ruihua.

The results of the match were due to the great difference in the strengths between the two teams, he said.

The third Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Women's Championship kicked off on Saturday with eight teams divided into two groups.

Current group standings are Japan and North Korea one and two respectively in Group A, while China is ranked second after Australia in Group B.

China will meet Japan in the semi-final on Saturday, while Australia will play North Korea. The top three teams from this tournament will qualify for the World U20 Women's Championship in Moscow, Russia.
