China grabbed four out of the five gold medals on the second day of Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG) 2006 World Cup Gymnastics in Shanghai, one of the six FIG World Cup competitions, representing the A-class event of FIG.

Of the five finals yesterday, China secured four gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze medals. The only gold medal that did not go to China's pocket was the men's floor exercise.

In the men's events, the 2005 pommel horse world champion Xiao Qin took the title with a score of 16.300. Teammate Teng Haibing, the 2004 Athens Olympic winner, and Croatian Robert Seligman finished second and third respectively.

China's Chen Yibing cruised to gold in the rings ahead of Russia's Alexander Safoshkin and China's Yan Yongming.

The men's floor exercise was the Achilles' tendon for the Chinese gymnasts as Du Wei managed for a bronze medal, which was won by Brazil's Diego Hypolito in 15.725. Canada's Brandon O'Neill came second.

In the women's competitions, China's Cheng Fei chose an easier jump but still defended her gold medal in the vault.

China's Xiao Tingting got her first gold medal in the uneven bars, finishing with six "flying" elements perfectly during her debut performance in the international competitions.

The 2006 Bank of China World Cup Gymnastics will conclude on Sunday with the men's vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar, and the women's beam and floor exercise.
