Cases of Avant-Crade Architecture

This book contains some 80 works selected from hundreds of short-listed architectural works, which well represent contemporary architecture in China. These works span a wide range, from Qi Kang's Nanjing Massacre Memorial, I.M. Pei's Fragrant Hills Hotel, the Shanghai Qingpu New City designed by numerous avant-garde architects, Zhu Pei's Digital Beijing, to Steven Holl's MOMA Global City. While this cannot be considered a complete collection, it does bring together the classic examples of contemporary Chinese architecture.

The book contains a large number of architectural photographs, related architectural discussions and explanations from the architects themselves, which are accompanied by related media reports.
