New Zealand will set up a consulate in the southwestern Chinese city of Chengdu, the city government said on Thursday.

The consulate will provide consular services to residents living in Chongqing Municipality and the provinces of Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan.

Ten countries, including the United States, Germany, France, the Republic of Korea, Thailand and Australia, have established consulates in Chengdu.

Israel will also open a consulate in Chengdu by the end of this year, the Sichuan provincial foreign affairs office said.
