Hollywood stars in China: Mimicry and bafflement

Editor's note: American A-listers are perhaps most at ease with the glitter and gleam in Hollywood, but when they come to China they find themselves in a completely different culture. They often try to learn about traditional Chinese culture and imitate the Chinese way of living. The following are a number of the celebrities who have practiced the ancient, and slightly altered saying "when in China, do as the Chinese do."

Brad Pitt was in Shanghai recently to promote his upcoming movie "Allied." He live-streamed his trip to Yu Garden, a famous tourist attraction in the metropolis, where he watched a traditional kung fu tea ceremony and tried it out himself. He later learned Chinese calligraphy there, too.
