Established in 1981, Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (BPAFFC) is a people’s organization engaged in the work of people-to-people friendship between Beijing and foreign countries. It is a corporate member of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. BPAFFC is committed to enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the people of Beijing and other part of the world, promoting exchanges and cooperation with foreign countries, actively conducting people-to-people friendship work on all fronts in different fields at various levels, and building a harmonious world of common prosperity. BPAFFC has established friendly contacts with more than 220 non-governmental organizations from over 60 foreign countries.

The major tasks of BPAFFC are to establish and develop cooperative relations with friendly organizations, social groups and personages of all circles of the capital cities and other places of foreign countries; play an active role as a bridge in serving for the growing international exchanges of the capital; serve for the economic development of the capital through promoting economic and trade cooperation among the people and exchanges of talents at home and abroad; serve for building the capital into a prosperous, civilized, harmonious, livable and exemplary area through hosting international people-to-people exchanges in the field of culture, sports, education and science, pushing forward international contacts among the youth by conducting and receiving friendly visits between people’s organizations and friends from all circles and hosting performances and exhibitions; carry out other relevant exchanges between the people of Beijing and the people and organizations of foreign countries.

The 6th Council Meeting of BPAFFC was held in April 2014 for a term of five years. Some notable figures are invited to be honorary presidents of BPAFFC, and more than 180 council members are recommended by different social circles as representatives of all walks of life in Beijing.
