The first issue of "Africa," a monthly Chinese news and business magazine focusing on the continent, was launched in Beijing Friday.

The 86-page color magazine, which is to officially debut on Sept. 1, includes interviews, features, in-depth reports, investment guides and business opportunities, and covers China-Africa relations as well as Africa's politics, economies, culture, tourism and people.

Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Abdul'ahat Abdulrixit said the magazine would serve as a bridge to promote understanding and friendship between China and Africa.

Nolana Ta Ama, head of the African diplomatic missions to China and Togo's ambassador, said the publication helped to draw Chinese people's attention to the African people and their lives.

The magazine, sponsored by the Chinese-African People's Friendship Association, is published on the first day of each month. English and French versions are planned.
