Market Survey: China's Car Market in Fast Lane
Adjust font size:

China's car market is poised to expand rapidly in the next few years, according to a market research report by ACNielsen.

The world leading market research company conducted a phone survey in May and June of more than 1,500 respondents in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The survey found that both private car ownership and intentions to purchase vehicles were still shooting up.

According to the survey findings, 28 percent of Beijing residents own a car, as compared with 11 percent in 2004. The proportion was 18 percent in Guangzhou, up from five percent two years ago, and 11 percent in Shanghai, up from four percent.

Thirty percent of the respondents said they would buy a car in the coming 12 months. The proportion was nine percent in 2005 and six percent in 2004.
