The OECD World Forum, marking the third event, will kick off on Tuesday for a four day run in the nation's southern port city of Busan, the National Statistical Office (NSO) said Monday.

The gathering, jointly held by the NSO and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, brings global leaders, renowned economists and members of the business community, the NSO said.

The forum was first launched in 2004 in pursuit of more accurately measuring economic growth and development in both advanced and developing countries, the NSO added.

This year's forum in Busan is held under the theme, "Charting progress, building visions and improving life."

With renowned Nobel Prize winner Joseph Stiglitz expected, the gathering is likely to attract around 2,000 people from some 100 countries, according to the NSO.
