ZTE inks US$378 mln deal with South Africa's Cell C

ZTE Corporation, China's largest telecom equipment producer by market value, said it signed contract with Cell C (PTY) Ltd., a mobile telecom operator in South Africa, to provide telecom facilities and services worth 378 million U.S. dollars.

ZTE will supply GSM and UMTS network turnkey solutions and operations services to the South African company. Under the agreement, the project is expected to be completed in three years, ZTE said in a statement posted on the Shenzhen Stock Exchanges on Tuesday.

ZTE provides telecommunications equipment and services to more than 500 telecom operators in over 140 countries. It reaped a profit of 1.19 billion yuan in the first three quarters of 2009, up 46.13 percent year on year.
