Chinese shares close lower Wednesday

Chinese equities closed lower Wednesday. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed down 0.66 percent, or 20.21 points, at 3,048.93 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 12,391.65 points, down 116.01 points, or 0.93 percent.

Combined turnover Wednesday was 172.7 billion yuan (25.3 billion U.S. dollars), down from 188.29 billion yuan the previous trading day.
