ZTE says 2009 profit up 48% on 3G business gains

ZTE Corporation, China's giant telecom equipment producer, said on Thursday its profit surged 48 percent in 2009 as the company rose to be the nation's biggest 3G telecommunications equipment maker last year. [More 2009 earnings releases]

Profit jumped to 2.46 billion yuan (361 million U.S. dollars). Sales revenue was 60.27 billion yuan, an increase of 36 percent from 2008, the company said in its annual report posted on its website.

Earnings per share is 1.40 yuan.

The figures are calculated based on Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standard.
