Kaiser Kuo, founder of China's iconic rock band Tang Dynasty, has joined the Chinese and Japanese search engine company, Baidu Inc., and serves as the international media public relations director of the investor relations department, said a source from Baidu to the Oriental Morning Post.

Kuo will be in charge of the international media and public relations platform of Baidu, the source said. Kuo will report directly to the company's CFO Li Xin.

Kuo, an American-born Chinese man, came to China in 1988 to study. Prior to joining Baidu, Kuo served as director of the digital marketing strategy division at Ogilvy China, a leading marketing communications network. He also worked as editor-in-chief at Red Herring Magazine and a consultant for international business at Youku.com.

In 1989, Kuo co-founded China's first heavy metal band Tang Dynasty but left the band a year later. Still actively engaged in Beijing's rock circle, he is currently a guitarist for the band Spring and Autumn.

China's business press carried the story above on Thursday. China.org.cn has not checked the stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.
