Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co. announced that the company would recall 18,101 Citroen C5 (2.3L) sedans in China produced between September 11, 2009 and July 19, 2010 because of problems with the fuel pipes, according to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) last Friday.
The gap between the fuel pipes and engine bonnet is too narrow, so the protection sleeve of the fuel pipes could be torn by the bonnet. The company promised to change the bonnet for the cars involved free of charge.
In another development, FAW Mazda Motor Sales Co. started to recall a total of 10,691 Mazda cars imported from Japan due to power steering problems, the AQSIQ said last Friday.
The vehicles involved are 3,405 Mazda 3 (2.0L) and 7,286 Mazda 5 cars.
The reason for the recall is that rust in hydraulic pumps, which are used for power steering, makes it difficult for drivers to maintain control.
