Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province in northeast China, is building a modern architecture and construction park.

Already one of China's important manufacturing bases, Shenyang, the capital city of Liaoning Province in northeast China, is planning a boost to its construction industry. A modern architecture and construction park has been set up in the Tiexi District of Shenyang to attract top-flight architecture and construction companies from around the world.

More than a billion yuan has been spent on the infrastructure of the park which will focus on construction equipment, components and services. Several Fortune 500 companies and well-known Chinese construction firms have already opened offices in the park.

The park realized gross output of 12.11 billion yuan (US$1.78 billion) from January to May in 2010, up 20 percent compared with the same period last year. By 2015, output is expected to reach 140 billion yuan (US$20.6 billion) and account for nearly half of the total value of the construction industry in Shenyang.

The park is environment friendly, and producing energy-saving architecture commodities is the top priority. The local government has set aside a special fund to encourage low carbon projects to relocate to the architecture park, awarding 200 million yuan ($US 29.4 million) each year to companies that contribute to developing the green economy. Among the 183 projects already located at the architecture park or under negotiation, 20 percent are clean energy programs and 70 percent are energy-saving.
