Government officials in Henan Province have ordered Henan Airlines to change its name back to its original name, Kunpeng Airlines, days after the carrier suffered a fatal crash landing.
The Henan Administration for Industry and Commerce registered the carrier in 2007 as Kunpeng Airlines, which became Henan Airlines late last year. It announced on their website late Friday that it has revoked the name change.
The administration also said that while the province holds no shares in the airline, the Aug. 24 accident has had "great negative impact" on Henan. The Embraer ERJ-190 jet that crashed at the Yichun City airport is the deadliest commercial plane crash in China in nearly six years.
China's business press carried the story above on Monday. China.org.cn has not checked the stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.
