China's Ministry of Commerce recently announced the names of the enterprises that met the initial requirements to apply for the rare earth export quota for next year.

Pingyuan Sanxie Rare Earth Smelting Co. Ltd. was the only rejected company of 32, which included nine foreign companies.

According to a staff member from Pingyuan Sanxie, the main reason that company didn't qualify was due to the insufficiency of the proper documents. "We are now preparing more documents, and there's nothing to worry about," the source said.

The amount of the export quota remains undecided. Some analysts have forecasted that the total quota for the next year won't decrease much. The current trend has been to tighten control over the quota of rare earth alloy products.

China's business press carried the story above on Thursday. China.org.cn has not checked the stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.
