Chinese shares close higher at midday Friday

Chinese shares closed slightly higher in the morning session Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.24 percent to 2,885.6.

The Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.87 percent to 12,687.85.
