China Unicom cuts int'l roaming fees by 45%

China Unicom, the country's No. 2 telco, yesterday said it has cut international roaming fees by 45 percent on average in 32 countries and regions, including the United States and Taiwan.

The carrier cut the international rate up to 80 percent. On average, the cost of China Unicom's international roaming fee fell by 6.60 yuan (US$1) for each minute.

For example, each call made by China Unicom users to the Chinese mainland from the US now costs 1.46 to 4.86 yuan with different US carrier networks, compared with 5.99 to 9.99 yuan previously.
