China's outsourcing industry has been developing rapidly but has problems, Vice Minister of Commerce Wei Jianguo said in a speech to international outsourcing professionals.

Wei gave a speech titled "Promote China's Service Outsourcing Development by Adopting Effective Measures" at the Fourth Global Outsourcing Summit, an annual conference during which the world's professional outsourcing community discusses the industry.

He said China had a delayed start in developing services offshore. Currently China's outsourcing is small-scale, not well-organized, and companies need more internal standardization, Wei said.

The summit took place in Ma'anshan, a third-tier city in the eastern Anhui Province. The Bureau of Commerce of Anhui, Ma'anshan Municipal Government, Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Commerce and Asia- Pacific CEO Association Worldwide hosted the event.

Wei said the city should make full use of having the summit in the city and promote its outsourcing industry. He encouraged Ma'anshan to stage policies, gather talent and innovate investment-attracting approaches while the professionals were there.
