Apple's fifth-generation iPhone, or iPhone 5, will be completed by early or mid August and will go on sale in the last week of August, the tech blog Boy Genius Report said.

Boy Genius said it has independently confirmed that the next-generation iPhone will not merely be an upgraded iPhone 4, as had been previously rumored.

Rumor was rife that Apple would unveil the new iPhone, as well as its iPod 3, in September, but a credible source told the Boy Genius Report that Apple will hold a special conference to launch the long-awaited smart phone in August.

Some Taiwanese suppliers for Apple's iPhone and iPad have cut production of parts for iPhone 4, a move read by industrial analysts as paving the way for the debut of the iPhone 5, according to a report by Taiwanese tech Web site DigitTimes.

日前，向来消息灵通的科技博客BGR再次发布独家消息披露，新一代iPhone预计在今年八月中上旬发布发布，在八月份的最后一周开始出货。

新一代iPhone将不会是目前在各大运营商高管手中测试的那款iPhone4S,，其外形将会有较大的变化。

按照之前普遍的看法，苹果将在9月召开大会推出新一代iPhone，甚至有可能与新款iPod一起发布。而最新的消息披露，苹果可能会特别为新一代iPhone举办专门的发布活动推出这款备受期待的手机。

值得一提的是，根据台湾媒体DigiTimes的报导，目前为苹果iPhone以及iPad提供PCB（印制电路板）的部分台湾供应商已经减少了该配件的订单。而在坊间人士看来，供应商此举是为了减少iPhone4的发货量，为即将到来的iPhone5做配件上的准备。
