2 suspects identified in data leak investigation

Five people are currently under investigation for leaking sensitive data on China's economy prior to its official release. Two have been identified as central bank researcher Wu Chaoming and a secretary with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) named Sun Zhen, the China Business News reported Wednesday.

According to Caijing Magazine, Wu Chaoming received his doctorate from Nankai University and is currently doing postdoctoral research in Beijing. Wu previously worked at the Financial Research Institute under the central bank and now serves as an assistant researcher at the central bank's research bureau.

Sun Zhen graduated from the University of Calgary in Canada. In 2007, he was recruited as a division-level public servant by the International Statistical Information Center of the NBS.

Earlier this year, China launched an investigation into the matter, which is still ongoing.

据《财经》杂志报道，伍超明毕业于南开大学，在那里他获得了博士学位，目前在北京做博士后研究工作。伍超明曾供职于央行金融研究所，被调查之前任职央行研究局的副研究员。

孙振毕业于加拿大卡尔加里大学，2007年从国家统计局国际统计信息中心通过笔试、面试等程序，录取为公务员，为副处级官员。

近3年来，国家统计局发布的国内生产总值(GDP)、居民消费价格(CPI)等关键数据频频被机构提前曝光。今年早些时候，中国政府着手调查此事，目前调查仍在进行中。
