The city of Cupertino, Calif., on Saturday released more details of Apple's new spaceship-shaped headquarters. 


The city of Cupertino, Calif., on Saturday released more details of Apple's new spaceship-shaped headquarters, which is dubbed Apple Campus 2, Sina Tech reported.

The donut-shaped building covers 2.8 million square feet and can contain up to 13,000 employees. The Apple Campus 2 is also equipped with 300,000 square feet of research facilities and a 1,000-seat underground auditorium. There will also be an underground parking structure.

Apple described its new home as "a distinctive and inspiring 21st-century workplace."

Apple is still assessing the design of its new headquarters, including its environmental impact. Apple will collect the views of local residents in Cupertino in an effort to further improve the design.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs proposed the new headquarters' design to the Cupertino City Council on June 7.
