China stocks edge up at midday Thursday

Chinese shares ended higher at midday Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.72 percent, or 43.77 points to 2,584.86 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 1.74 percent, or 195.34 points, to 11,434.30 in the morning session.
