Despite the fact that China's mobile market has enjoyed an explosive growth since 2010, only a small portion of developers for mobile applications have made a profit, according to a report issued by CCID ThinkTank this week.

The number of China's mobile Internet users rose to 318 million by the end of June 2011 from 303 million at the end of 2010, and is expected to break 480 million next year, the report said.

But the report found that China's booming mobile Internet did not prove to be a lucrative market. Only 20 percent of developers of mobile applications are turning a profit, the report said, baffling those measuring considerable economic potentials in the mobile Internet industry.

China's business press carried the story above on Thursday.
