A sales manager of Chinese oil giant Sinopec's Shanxi Jinzhong branch has run away with tens of millions yuan in company funds, according to an online post by an anonymous blogger in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province.

"On August 26, Wu Bo, lead sales manager and sales champion of Sinopec's Shanxi Jinzhong branch,

took tens of millions yuan in oil sales revenue and fled. Until today, the branch still hasn't reported [the incident] to the police and responded to its clients,” the post said.

Several employees at the Jinzhong branch confirmed that Wu had left his job. "We cannot get hold of Wu now, because he is no longer an employee of our company," a spokesperson said.

"[Wu] ran into some trouble and has been fired," said another spokesperson, adding that Wu went missing in August and nobody had been able to locate him since. The employee said the company had informed the police, but was unclear about details.

Sinopec's Jinzhong branch conducts more oil products sales than any other division.

China's business press carried the story above on Wednesday.
