Fok confirmed that the company, owned by billionaire Li Ka-shing, is preparing to purchase Manchester Airport, but did not disclose any further details.

He said the company plans to increase its European investments, as its operations in telecommunication, ports and other public services demonstrate a good momentum for growth.

Earlier reports claimed that Cheung Kong Infrastructure, a subsidiary of the group, was set to put in a bid to take over the airport.
