Sony Mobile unveiled its latest Android models which feature a near-field communications function and changeable battery Monday in Beijing to challenge Samsung and Apple in the domestic high-end smartphone market.

"China is Sony Mobile's core market globally," said Magnus Ahlqvist, Sony Mobile China president, who predicted Sony's domestic sales to grow via new models and expanded channels.

The NFC function on Sony Mobile devices allows users to share contacts, music and photos with a simple touch action. NFC can also be used for mobile payment. Sony is one of the earliest firms to launch phones with the NFC function in China.

Sony's new Xperia TX LT29i features a 13-megapixel camera unlike the 8 megapixels on iPhone 4S and Samsung's models. Sony's new models also feature a changeable battery.

Sony Mobile's 1.47 percent share of the domestic smartphone market trailed Samsung's 22 percent and Apple's 5.9 percent by the end of the second quarter.
