Logistics firm UPS International is to begin using Zhengzhou in central China's Henan Province as part of its aviation route for cargo deliveries, sources with UPS China announced on Tuesday.

The new route, from Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport to the Republic of Korea's Incheon International Airport, the country's biggest aviation hub, will operate from Monday to Friday on Boeing 767 aircraft, the sources said.

It will allow air transportation between China's inland areas and Europe, the United States and other Asian regions, as Incheon International Airport operates direct flights these destinations.

Zhengzhou becomes the fifth hub for the UPS delivery service chain in China, after Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Qingdao, according to the sources. It will help UPS shorten delivery times from central China to Europe and the United States by at least one day.

Regional advantages, abundant human resources and strong governmental support allowed UPS to transform Zhengzhou into its newest delivery hub, said Daniel Brutto, president of UPS International.

Demand for logistics services in China's inland region has soared in recent years as an increasing number of manufacturers have built factories there, making Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport one of the busiest in central China.
