Oil falls as Hurricane Sandy bears down on US

Crude prices fell on Monday as Hurricane Sandy that hit the East Coast forced showdown of refineries and reduced crude demand.

Light, sweet crude for December delivery dropped 74 cents, or 0. 86 percent, to settle at 85.54 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for December delivery also edged down and last traded above 109 dollars a barrel.
