Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo said Friday that Sino-U.S. cooperation should not only reflect the features of partnership, but also the requirement of building a new type of relations between major countries.

Dai made the remarks at the strategic talks held within the framework of the fourth round of China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue.

He said Sino-U.S. cooperation should serve the goal of building a Sino-U.S. cooperative partnership, calling on the two countries to be open-minded and try to create new growth areas in bilateral cooperation.

Meanwhile, he said the two sides should treat each other equally in the spirit of mutual understanding and accommodation, maintain timely and adequate communication, and maximize the common interests while minimizing conflicts and differences.

The Sino-U.S. cooperative partnership should be built on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit, Dai urged.
