Daughter of Huawei founder unveils company's secrets

Huawei has three business groups -- carrier network business unit, consumer business unit and enterprise business unit -- and the latter two are new businesses that require a large amount of funding.

However, Meng said Huawei will not split the business in order to seek public listings, because on one hand, Huawei enjoys high credit lines and its customers are mostly big, trustworthy companies, and on the other hand, it will be easier for the two new groups to expand their business if they cooperate together. According to Meng, Huawei has gained a US$33 billion credit line from banks worldwide. Its customers include 45 of the world's top 50 carriers. Therefore, Huawei is not in urgent need of investment and has no current IPO plans.

Personal life

Meng entered Huawei in 1993, doing remedial tasks like typing and answering phones. Meng went to study accounting as a postgraduate student in central China in 1997, and later joined the company's financial department.

Meng followed her mother's surname. Her brother Ren Ping works in a service company responsible for arranging business trips for Huawei employees, including booking air tickets and hotel rooms. He is not involved in the company's core business operations.

Meng has a 10-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter.
