China's mobile reading market has continued to heat up, hitting a volume of 1.65 billion yuan (0.27 billion U.S. dollars) in the third quarter of 2013, according to a report released by a major tech industry researcher on Saturday.

The figure indicated a 12-percent quarter-on-quarter increase, and an 83.4-percent year-on-year increase, showed Analysys International's report.

Active mobile reader users reached 470 million, which accounted for a 7.9-percent quarter-on-quarter increase.

The top four mobile reading providers were iReader, QQ Reader, Tadu and 91 PandaReader, with market shares of 20.3, 12, 8.5 and 8.5 percent respectively.

A mobile reader developer has to differentiate its products from others and enhance user experience in order to survive the fierce market competition, the report said.
