Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co (SAMC) Wednesday delivered its 3,000th pair of horizontal stabilizers for the latest-generation Boeing 737s.
SAMC has been working with the United States aircraft manufacturer on various versions of the 737 since 1999 and is now a major overseas supplier, said Huang Min, deputy general manager of the Chinese company.
About 60 percent of all the stabilizers made for the 737MAX, which is under development and expected to go into commercial service in 2017, were produced by the company, he said.
The manufacturer of China's first homegrown regional jet — the ARJ21 — and the C919 single-aisle aircraft, also makes wing parts for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and recently won contracts to produce dorsal fins for the B777 and nose landing gear doors for the B747.
Boeing is the largest buyer of aircraft components in China, with 35 direct suppliers and hundreds of secondary vendors, the US company said yesterday.
