Abstract

Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe (shortened for Yuxinou) international railway transport passage is the forerunner of the ground transport via the Silk Road Economic Belt. It starts from Chongqing in southwestern China, passes through Xinjiang, and then runs into Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, finally to Duisburg, Germany, the total length being 10,000 km. Put into operation in January 2011, the international railway transport passage has now developed into a regular two-way transport line. The development of the railway channel will provide valuable experience for the implementation of the Silk Road Economic Belt initiative. Hence, attention should be paid to its strategic significance. Of course, problems concerning the development of the railway line still exist at the international level, therefore requiring the establishment of coordination mechanism within the broader framework of the Silk Road Economic Belt to address them.
