The Chinese government will take measures to expand imports, according to an executive meeting of the State Council chaired by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Monday.

Positive policies for imports of technology, products and services will help meet domestic demand, improve product quality, promote entrepreneurship and innovation, and upgrade economic structure, said a statement issued after the meeting.

It will also make better use of foreign exchange reserves, boost balance between international income and expenditure, and aid opening-up, it said.

Imports of high-tech equipment and key parts will be encouraged and a catalog for technology and products under favorable import policies will be adjusted.

Service imports will be encouraged on research, design, energy saving and environmental protection.

Imports of resources will stay stable and imports of general consumer goods like beef, mutton and aquatic products will be increased reasonably, it said.

Management of imports will be facilitated and more trade modes will be encouraged such as cross-border e-commerce platforms, it said.
